About the Series
The Metalwood Saga is a thrill ride of found family, forgotten history, and a desperate fight to save a collapsing universe. It blends sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, and thriller into an epic tale where ancient elven powers manipulate humanity from the shadows, and a force so powerful it has shaped galaxies—the Metalwood—is stirring once more.
High above a ruined Earth, the floating city of Newfris shines with power—but beneath it, in the dark chaos of The Under, an underworld of magic and machines battles for survival. As the apocalyptic force known as The Fall (Guruthos) looms ever closer, a cast of misfits, assassins, reluctant mages, and elven archers are swept into a war that spans across millennia and solar systems. They must navigate betrayal, soul-shattering magic, and the wrath of ancient gods to choose: survive the storm—or stop it.

The Fourteen Gifts (Soulmagic)
Beyond the standard Woodways lies a deeper, ancient, and often more dangerous layer of power known as Soulmagic or the Fourteen Gifts. Accessing these profound abilities typically requires a mage to undergo immense trauma, shattering their mind in a process known as a Soulbreak to peer beneath the veil of reality and manipulate souls directly.
- Soulbind: The terrifying ability to connect to and completely control another living soul, be it animal, plant, or person. (A softer, non-breaking variation utilized by demisouls to commune equally with nature is known as Souljoining).
- Soulbleed: A parasitic gift that leeches physical energy and magic from another person, fueling the user while causing the victim to suffer from sudden weakness or fainting spells.
- Soulblind: Also known as gatesickness, a condition or gift that causes severe memory loss, often resulting from traumatic magical travel or Gatesending.
- Soulblock: A mental barrier or blockage that prevents a Talented individual from fully realizing their potential as a Prime Mage.
- Soulbreak: The agonizing process of shattering one's own mind through immense pain, which serves as a prerequisite to accessing the deeper depths of the Fourteen Gifts.
- Soulburn: The lethal consequence of overextending oneself and drawing too much magical power at once, resulting in instant death.
- Soulmerge: A profound gift associated with the intimate blending, sharing, or combining of souls and magical essence.
- Soulmist: The ultimate disguise; it allows Prime Mages to seamlessly alter their physical form into anyone or anything with just a thought, originating from the passive cloaking generated by Prime Trees.
- Soulprison: The horrific act of permanently trapping a severed soul within the cellular latticework of a tree, sealing them away in Ambarhal.
- Soulseek: The ability to detect, track, and trace the Sparkthreads of other souls across vast distances.
- Soulshadow: A dark necromantic ritual that resurrects a freshly-killed corpse into a half-alive, obedient slave controlled entirely by the Twins.
- Soulspect: The power to visually read the Seven Aspects of a person's soul to determine their Alignment, typically requiring a Prime Leaf as a reagent.
- Soulsplinter: The dangerous ability to fracture one's soul and project it into multiple physical clones, dividing the user's Aspects among the splintered forms.
- Soulsunder: A devastating Primal magic that severs a soul from its body, causing mass death and banishing the soul to Ambarhal.
