Soulsundering is the seventh, Primal Aspect of lightprime magic, fueled by prime willow and cypress. This devastating power is capable of tearing a person's soul away from their physical body and trapping it forever within the ethereal dimension of Ambarhal. Because it is a Primal power located at the center of the soul, it can theoretically be accessed by any mage. However, utilizing it on a massive scale requires a full soulcircle of fourteen mages communing directly with the fourteen Prime Trees.
The ancient scientist Aten and his students famously utilized soulsundering to separate the alien Twins (Velion and Nelenor) from their bodies, imprisoning them inside Prime Trees. Millennia later, the Council Leader Silanar led the Eldrim in enacting the apocalyptic Ritual of Sundering to wipe out ninety-nine percent of humanity—a catastrophic event that inadvertently killed all of the original Prime Trees.
