Soulprisoning is the horrific act of permanently trapping a person's soul within an object—usually a tree—within the ethereal dimension of Ambarhal. This is achieved by combining soulsundering magic with the physical death of the victim. Elanil discovers the terrible mechanics of this magic when she finds her mother, Melenora, trapped within the "latticework of cells" of a Tree, forming a literal "soulprison". The ancient scientist Orym (as Aten) famously utilized this technique to imprison the alien Twins inside a cypress and a willow tree, trapping their souls to siphon the power of the Xyclami device.
I just finished this series. Overall it was a good read, an interesting twist on elves, humans,and other creatures.
I did find it hard to track just who was who and when things were happening with the myriad timelines.
The one thing that truly disappointed me was the introduction of JRR Tolkien into the storyline. It felt like a name drop for attention. I was in the last book, it wasn't needed and almost spoiled the entire read for me. Hence only four stars.
These are great stories and I can't wait to read the next one. I reallybdon't want them to end.

I really liked the plot development in this series of books. I would encourage anyone who enjoys this genre, to read this series. They are a little different to the run of the mill books .
This book just wasn't to my taste in fantasy. I don't read foul language and don't like such darkness. Sorry I ordered the whole series before I realized this.
Loved the 10 book series. Exciting how all the characters merged throughout the books. Had to keep reading no housework for 2 weeks.
The writing was great, but the story was uninspired. After finishing the first book, I did not have enough interest to continue.
Good fun reading. Your use of expletives on occasion was a bit of a shock as they came out of the blue compared to the rest of the narrative, doesn't bother me, just stood out some.
