Singwa Lingwe, known in the common tongue as the Salt Spires, is an incredibly hostile and desolate region located to the north of the Thesserin Desert on Valaralda. The Department of Magical Research’s Research Director, Donar Cresius XXV, describes it as a place "where the sands bleach white. Where endless spires appear, hundreds of feet high, leading down to brutally sharp rocks below. Pillars made of pure salt". It is a completely dead environment where "Nothing grows there. Nothing can. There is no water, no way up if you fall. The sun beats down on Singwa Lingwe incessantly, so hot it’s almost impossible to breathe".
Because of its remote and deadly nature, the Department of Magical Research spent thousands of years laying "devastating magical traps" throughout the spires, using every artifact and power they could find. During the climax of the conflict with the Twins, the elves and their allies lure Velion and Nelenor to Singwa Lingwe to trigger these traps. Despite unleashing bladedancing, stormwarding, mistweaving illusions, and massive physical impacts from the spires themselves, the Twins survive and unleash a retaliatory wave of crimson magic, ultimately reducing the spires to "a massive crater at least a mile wide and over a hundred feet deep," leaving only piles of loose salt like sand dunes.
