Pano Sylrantheas

Pano Sylrantheas

Pano Sylrantheas is a rebuilt, integrated settlement located in the Muir Woods on the surface of Earth (Mar). Constructed from the ashes of the original elven village of Sylrantheas, it stands as the first city of its kind: a place where humans and Eldrim elves live side-by-side as equals, without illusions or prejudice. The word pano translates to "a piece of shaped wood" in the ancient Eldrim tongue, serving as a direct reference to the human faction known as the Splinter who helped rebuild it.

Geography and Environment

Because the original village was subjected to a devastating inferno orchestrated by the Cothellon, Pano Sylrantheas is completely devoid of the ancient redwood trees that once provided its natural canopy. As a result, the village features clear sight lines and a vastly different layout.

The new settlement's architecture is a unique blend of elven craftsmanship and human influence. The streets are much straighter, and the buildings are significantly larger than their predecessors. Many structures incorporate modern elements; for example, the newly rebuilt tavern, Meriel's, features a massive wall made entirely of glass to let in sunlight and fresh forest air.

Culture and Leadership

Following the catastrophic battle that destroyed the original village, the ruling Council underwent drastic changes. With former leaders like Silanar dead, Meriel the tavernkeeper was elevated to the position of Council Leader. In a groundbreaking shift reflecting the new unity between the races, the human Jalnab (formerly of Gulthurub) was given a seat on the Council, serving as the village's Instruction Mentor.

Key Events

The Rebuilding

In the aftermath of the Cothellon attack led by the mindmaster Quynn, the surviving elves took shelter with the humans of the Splinter. Together, the two races returned to the charred ruins of the village and began a rapid, massive reconstruction effort. Under the interim guidance of Bellas, the village was quickly made habitable again, drawing lines of human refugees migrating to the sanctuary in the woods.

The Twin Threat

Shortly after the village was established, the young Prime Mages Elanil and Rylan arrived to warn the new Council about the release of the apocalyptic Twins (Velion and Nelenor). Rylan used his unprecedented connection to the Xyclami device to effortlessly float the entire Council in the air, proving the severity of the magical threat they faced.

The Clash of Gods

Driven mad by his newfound power, Orym (Aten) descended upon Pano Sylrantheas to terrorize it. However, Quynn—who harbored deep regret for his role in destroying the original village—intervened to protect the new settlement. Utilizing strengthshaping and mergemelding magic, Quynn engaged Orym in a brutal fistfight to stop the destruction, holding the mad scientist off until Arra and Tarathiel stepped through a dimensional gate to join the battle.

A New Era

Following the deactivation of the Xyclami device and the end of all magic across the universe, Pano Sylrantheas continued to thrive. Without the reliance on primewood, the unified population of elves and humans adapted to their new reality, allowing the village to expand even further into the regrowing Muir Woods.
