Soulsplintering is one of the Fourteen Gifts of the Soul, though it can also be achieved through an incredibly advanced application of mistweaving magic. It allows a mage to break their soul apart, creating fully physical, independent copies (splinters) of themselves. A mage can only splinter into a maximum of six copies, representing the six Aspects of the soul; the seventh, Primal Aspect remains distributed among them all.
While splintered, each copy retains only one of the original mage's powers/Aspects, meaning they cannot perform their full suite of magic. To reintegrate, the mage simply casts an invisibility illusion over the splinter they wish to discard, causing it to instantly fly backward and merge into the remaining body. The mistweaver Allain pioneers this into a rapid transportation technique he calls "splinterleaping", while the villain Cariel (Magona) notoriously uses splintering to orchestrate multiple armies across the planet simultaneously.
