Lusvunub, also known as Louisberg (formerly Louisville, Kentucky), is the "City in the Center" and is considered the richest of the three great cities of the People. It is described as almost civilized, with a reputation for its inhabitants being "whizzes with mechanical things—their tanks and tricked-out trucks were a wonder to behold". Physically, it is depicted as sparkling in the night with "yellow floodlights and barbed wire and tar spreading out beneath a starless sky". The city contains a unique blend of industrial and artisanal areas, most notably its "rickhouses" where the People age bourbon, producing a lucrative trade good for elven markets.
The city is also the home of the "Destroyers," massive war machines of steel and chrome that "rose three or four times the height of a human" and were equipped with devastating weaponry like the tree-killing "Shredder". Lusvunub served as a critical location during the series' final conflicts, acting as a gathering point for thousands of Remnant under new leadership. It eventually became the site of a monumental confrontation when Nelenor arrived, leading to a blast of "total devastation rippling from the center of Lusvunub" that destroyed buildings and infrastructure.
