Center Square is the administrative and ceremonial heart of the Remnant stronghold, Gulthurub. It is dominated by a "central dais, a raised, metal platform" known as the "Pedestal of Heroes," where the People gather to proclaim Warlords and celebrate victories. The surrounding area is bleak and industrial, with "sharp gravel" crunching underfoot and "cement building after cement building" that appear increasingly "decrepit," featuring "steel rebar twisted upward from crumbling walls" and fading graffiti.
The square serves as the primary gathering point for the People of Gulthurub, who are often seen there "clinking tools and speaking roughly to one another" amidst the smell of "burning meat". It is the setting for pivotal leadership changes, including the humiliation of Zel by Segena and the eventual raising of Relzeb as the new Warlord following the war with the Eldrim. Following the conflict, the square becomes a place of mourning where Jalnab delivers a eulogy for Zel, noting his desire to make a difference before his sacrifice.
