Pedestal of Heroes

The Pedestal of Heroes is a "ceremonial dais" located in the center of Gulthurub. Described physically as a "metal dais where they proclaimed Warlords and celebrated great heroes," it is the central stage for the public life and brutal politics of the Remnant People.

The location is most notable for being the site of Zel's extreme public humiliation by the Warlord Segena. The narrative captures the horrifying spectacle: "The jeering crescendoed, laughter all around him as he stumbled, still led painfully by his ear, to the top of a metal dais where they proclaimed Warlords and celebrated great heroes. The People gathered all around below him, pointing at him, jeering at him, teeth and jata hair flashing and waving everywhere he could see". It is atop this very pedestal that Zel finally snaps, striking Segena hard enough that "She flew off the pedestal, hair and limbs flying as she flailed to the ground," thus ending her abusive control over him.

I just finished this series. Overall it was a good read, an interesting twist on elves, humans,and other creatures.

I did find it hard to track just who was who and when things were happening with the myriad timelines.

The one thing that truly disappointed me was the introduction of JRR Tolkien into the storyline. It felt like a name drop for attention. I was in the last book, it wasn't needed and almost spoiled the entire read for me. Hence only four stars.

These are great stories and I can't wait to read the next one. I reallybdon't want them to end.

I really liked the plot development in this series of books. I would encourage anyone who enjoys this genre, to read this series. They are a little different to the run of the mill books .

This book just wasn't to my taste in fantasy. I don't read foul language and don't like such darkness. Sorry I ordered the whole series before I realized this.

Loved the 10 book series. Exciting how all the characters merged throughout the books. Had to keep reading no housework for 2 weeks.

The writing was great, but the story was uninspired. After finishing the first book, I did not have enough interest to continue.

Good fun reading. Your use of expletives on occasion was a bit of a shock as they came out of the blue compared to the rest of the narrative, doesn't bother me, just stood out some.
Good stuff

It's a very engrossing series. Definitely doesn't slow down.
