New Market Street (often intersecting with Embarcadero) is a major thoroughfare in the sky city of New San Francisco. In the modern era, it is a bustling commercial center, famously featuring the luxurious "One Market, where the richsters stayed and dined. It had all been glass before today."
The street becomes the apocalyptic epicenter of the underkid and shantytowner riots following the cruel "Clean Up the Streets Act." The once-pristine area is utterly destroyed by the enraged mob: "The entire city had lost its goddamn mind. 'Clean This' was writ in burning letters across the Old Hyatt Regency now a Planner office building", while One Market's glass facade is entirely shattered. During the ensuing battle between the rioters and the Cothellon forces, Phoenix and her allies engage in an aerial dogfight, disabling a Planner fallcar and sending it "plowing into New Market Street, sending the rioters scattering".
