One Market is a "topside building" that served as an elite destination "where the richsters stayed and dined". Originally characterized by its "glass and chrome" aesthetic, the building was a target of the citywide riots following the passage of Measure K. By the time the unrest reached its peak, the building's glass "was gone, and in the steel above those windowpanes another word was written... in glittering fire, blazing in the dark".
