The sky isn’t the limit. It’s the battleground.

In the floating city of Newfris, magic and machinery keep the elite above the clouds—while the desperate survive in the shadows below. Phoenix, a lethal assassin known as a killgirl, is cast out after her unstable magic erupts during a mission gone wrong. Hunted by her former Crew and the city’s ruling Planners, she finds unlikely refuge with the Gearheads—reckless rebels who race stolen cars through the mechanical maze of the Under.

But Phoenix’s fight is just beginning. The magic she wields is tied to something ancient—the Eldrim, a secretive race with powers far older than Newfris itself. And the Planners’ control is unraveling fast.

Meanwhile, Trey, a grieving bookseller, is pulled into rebellion after the government takes everything from him. His path leads him to the surface of the ruined Earth—and to Arra, an elven archer guarding the last remnants of the old world. Together, they uncover a truth that links their fates to Phoenix’s... and to a war that spans sky and soil.

As old magic awakens and rebellion spreads, Phoenix, Trey, and Arra must choose what to fight for—before everything burns.

This bundle includes the first 5 books in the epic 10-book saga of rebellion, magic, and survival in a world where the sky is falling.

When the Planners built the flying city, they said it was to keep everyone safe. When they loaded it with people, tearing them from their homes, giving them new lives way up in the frigid sky whether they wanted it or not, they said it was so the human race could survive.

And when the virus came, sweeping through the world below, killing everyone just as they said it would, those who remained thanked them.

The Planners were right.

A small fraction of humanity had been saved.

But living in a flying city wasn’t nearly as glamorous as it sounded.

Not after three hundred years.

Not when you couldn’t escape.

Because the virus was still rampant on the surface, roaming through the wilds of the world, and even one small step outside the confines of this floating, flying prison of a city meant instant death.

And anyway, the Planners wouldn’t let you step outside.

At least the topsiders had it good. Megan had dim memories of the sunlit surface of the city—memories from her childhood, from before she was sequestered in the gloom below the streets. They had houses up there. Cars. Wives and kids and baths and dinnertime and all the trappings of a normal life.

Topside was heaven.

Down in the Under, well.

That was where the rest of the city dwelled. The homeless. The jobless. The castaways. The orphans.

Deep in the cement bones beneath the streets, in the undergirding endless night, where sewage and steel fought against the homeless and the rats—that was where Megan and her kind ran. Trashburners rumbled in the distance, underscoring glistening pipes that carried urine, detritus, and—if she was lucky—water. Dim fluorescent lights flickered in the silent halls, leftover spaces that the topsiders had forgotten.

Some of them, anyway.

The darkest of the rich dwellers overhead? The ones dissatisfied with the trappings of their topside life, who yearned for more forbidden pleasures? They remembered. Carnal desires could be met in the turbulent gloom beneath the streets, if you knew where to look.

It was hard, down here. It was dirty. People often starved. People often died.

But down here in the glistening dark, the kids had something no one had expected.

Down here, there was magic.

Welcome to the Under.

Megan stood atop Rafter Two, rubbing a piece of metalwood between two fingers as she looked at the whiproom down below her. The room was large and square and made of rough cement, maybe twenty feet tall, with a series of long steel bars running through the air close enough to the ceiling that Megan could stand on one and look down at everything. The bars looked like rafters, Megan thought. Rafters. Another memory from her prior life. Why they were here was anybody’s guess—the Planners always were mysterious. Whatever the case, they provided a perfect way for killgirls like her to stand above the proceedings, hidden.

Maybe that was exactly what the rafters were for.

She looked below her at the rows and rows of aluminum chairs that were lined up on the floor, filled with sweaty, heaving bodies of fearful women wrapped in chains. She licked her lips, quieting the flicker of her heartbeat.

She’d always hated it here.

The Den was a special section of the Under, where only the richest topsiders came. This room was the worst of them: deep and rotten, filled with the scent of men and fear, of dark blood and anxiety and shame. The sounds were loud in here, echoing off the walls, masking any movement she might make. Sounds of whips, of course, and harder things. Things she had to keep her eyes away from. Things for which a soul might bleed.

Megan had a job down here. Finally, after months of training, Queen had deemed her strong enough.

She could only hope that Queen was right.

The shard of metalwood felt warm between her fingers, almost pulsing with a sickly kind of life. The grains in the wood were visible, striations of power running through it like tiny rings of a tree. But the surface of it shone, reflecting light, looking almost like metal in the eery whiproom chamber. Wood wasn’t meant to look like that.

Not that she saw much wood in this infernal flying city.

Nor did any of it exist down here in the Under. No. Wood was the least of her concern, metal or otherwise. Still, she had to admit there was something very strange about it. No one had ever bothered to explain where it came from or how it worked.

She only knew the power it could give.

She couldn’t help but shiver as she pocketed the piece. She’d use it when the time came. If it came.

Metalwood was where she got her magic. The strange pieces of wood weren’t common, exactly—most people couldn’t even feel the warmth in them. Those that could, well.

They were the ones that got promoted.

That was her, finally. And tonight, she had a job. If everything went well, magic would not be needed here.

But if something went wrong, well.

She’d be glad of the metalwood in her pocket.

She returned to her survey of the room. Blue lights flickered overhead, revealing flashing necks, glimmering teeth. She heard cries of pleasure and of pain, the crack of whips, the rattle of thick chains.

She wiped a sheen of sweat from her brow.

She could do this.

She had to do this.

Queen had entrusted her with the job, after all. And pissing off Queen was the last thing she wanted to do. It was her first job. Her first real job.

She’d be damned if she let Queen down.

So she stood, feet perched on a rafter high above the room, checked the pinblade at her side, and launched herself at Gentleman One. She flitted down from the metal rafter, landing silently beside one of the chairs.

He was short, for a Gentleman. Short and portly, with a grimace on his face. And so it was the work of mere seconds for Megan to draw her pinblade—steel flashing quickly in the dark—and swipe it wide, feeling the thin but supple give of flesh. It took no time for her to see the blood well up inside his newly tattered shirt, to see the expression on his face as he stumbled, clutching at the wound, eyes open as he fell to the cold cement floor.

Megan left him there, bleeding.

First assignment done.

He’d been whipping a woman, who was still strapped into a chair with thick pieces of leather. Her chest heaved in fear as Megan approached, smelling like urine mixed with sweat. Megan wrinkled her nose.

“It’s okay,” she said, taking shallow breaths as she bent to undo the woman’s straps. “You’re free now. The exit’s over there.”

“Who are you?” she asked, but Megan simply shook her head.

“Count yourself lucky. And don’t get yourself caught up in this again.”

“Thank you.”

The woman left, tottering toward Exit Two in the northeast corner of the room.

That was one.

She had two more victims here tonight.

She caught a glimpse of Beam one rafter over, dispatching her first Gentleman. The lights gleamed on her, shining on her arm muscles, on her neck as it curved while she slit the throat of her first victim. Megan watched as she freed the woman in the chair, speaking to her in low tones. Only seconds had passed.

Beam always made it look so easy.

“Hey!” Beam hissed, and Megan realized that the girl was somehow standing next to her, short-cropped hair shining dirty blonde in the flickering fluorescent lights. “We can’t be discovered here. Go!”

Megan obeyed, her mind a bit of fog. She threw her steelstring up, watching as the thick clip at the end connected with the rafter far above her.

She started running.

“Up!” Beam said from a few feet away, and Megan felt herself doing what she loved more than anything.

Flying.

Beam was propelling her with magic. Megan felt herself rise with it, rising upward toward the ceiling, the steelstring taut against her as she did. It was pulling her, the momentum curving her above the metal rafters into the cavernous space at the top of the room. She sailed in an arc, the rafter keeping her steelstring in place, until she was positioned directly over Rafter Three.

Then Beam’s magic ended.

And Megan fell, landing spryly on the metal beam. Easy.

They had practiced that move for a very long time.

Megan unclipped her steelstring, surveying the floor below. Killgirls like her were supposed to stay hidden, to strike from the darkness.

So far, so good.

Her next target was two rows down. Gentleman Two was even fatter than the first, a big fat man dressed in blue, and he had his big hand around someone’s neck beneath him, fat back held still as the body below him jerked and waved, obviously about to die.

And this time it wasn’t a woman being held there in the Gentleman’s hand.

It was a man.

Megan reclipped her steelstring, pulling her right glove tighter. Then she swung down as silently as possible, angling herself for a quick neck kill. Her feet, clad as they were in simple skintight synthskin, pointed at the man. It would be easy to kill him, positioned as he was, bent over his captive. All she had to do was grab his neck and twist. She could feel her muscles poised, ready to execute the motion she had done so many times.

But then the man looked up at her, white teeth shining.

A knife blade glimmered in his hand.

She let out a shriek, unable to help herself, trying to deflect her motion to the side. But it was no good—she was falling now that Beam was off doing something else. His knife was thicker than her pinblade, and he had a look of skill about him, as if he had wielded it before. He almost looked happy that a black-clad woman was descending on him from the ceiling above, synthskin dangling, steelstring snapping. His blade was thirsty for blood like hers, and there was nothing she could do.

Megan saw all this in a moment, and she knew that death was rising up to meet her.

She managed to swing her steelstring to the side just barely, her body moving a foot off to the right of the man and his captive in the chair. But the Gentleman was ready for her: he sliced and met her foot, sending searing pain through the synthskin to her real skin underneath. Megan screamed, landing heavily on the floor and twisting her ankle hard as she tried to keep her balance. Her foot felt like it was on fire. It hurt, as if the undersun had flipped the city in the sky, blazing down and piercing into her with all its horrible glory.

Dammit. She wasn’t strong enough. She was failing Queen.

And failing Queen meant losing the only place she had left in this city. The only life she had.

She wasn’t a child anymore.

She wasn’t a topsider anymore.

She was strong.

She had to be. It was the only way to survive.

So she came back up, balancing weakly on her other ankle, pinblade out and ready to strike. Then she darted forward, ducking under a wide swipe from the Gentleman and his blade, slicing inside his reach, feeling the slight resistance of flesh and cloth as her sharp pinblade dealt its damage.

The man staggered back, eyes wide, skin white. His blue shirt was sliced cleanly from left to right, the opening revealing skin and blood. The man lurched, grasping at his stomach, dropping his knife. Then he fell, gurgling something in the whip-loud room. The rest of the people in the room were too busy, making too much noise themselves to even notice.

Megan had managed to stay unseen.

She wiped her pinblade on her pants and clipped it to her belt. Then she stood for a moment, trying to quiet her quickly beating heart, careful not to put weight on her damaged foot. It hurt, but she could manage it. She’d had worse before. Then she turned, moving her attention to the captive man in the chair.

He was pretty, she realized in a detached sort of way. He had dark, curly hair, and eyes she couldn’t see. The room was dark, and she was in a hurry, and she didn’t usually go in for men anyway. Her gaze flicked across his well-defined pectoral muscles and abdomen, then back up to his eyes. He didn’t seem nervous. He didn’t seem afraid at all. It almost seemed like he’d been enjoying this.

Megan felt her stomach turn.

She stepped closer, reaching under him to unlatch his chains, trying to avoid looking in too many places at once. His breath was hot as he turned to her.

The chains fell away.

“Th—” the man said, his voice coming out entirely as a choke. He coughed, and Megan finished undoing him. Then she stood, watching his veiled eyes in the dim room.

“How did you end up here?” she asked.

The man sat up, abdominal muscles taut. “I made a bad bet.” His voice was raw.

“I’m sorry.” She helped him up. When he stood, he was taller than her by at least a foot. And there was something in his eyes now that she could see them in the flickering light from the ceiling.

Was it curiosity?

“The door is that way,” she said, pointing to Exit Two.

“Thank you,” he said. “Who are you?”

Everyone asked that. They always wanted to know who had saved them. But Her Majesty’s Navy had a rule: you couldn’t say you were in Her Majesty’s Navy. And you couldn’t give them your undername, either, or you’d be excommunicated. You’d be dropped from the Crew.

But she had to give him something. And anyway, he was kind of cute.

There wasn’t any rule about telling him her real name. No one ever uttered it down here.

“Megan,” she said.

“Thank you, Megan,” the man replied. “I’m Eric.”

“What are you doing?” Beam hissed at her from somewhere nearby.

“Go!” Megan said, pushing Eric toward Exit Two.

“Thank you,” Eric said. “I’ll find you.”

“Just leave,” Megan said, already turning away, “and never come down here again.”

Beam was still hissing at her, and Megan turned to see what the problem was. Had she dispatched her Gentleman? Had they completed their mission? Could they leave? Megan turned and scanned her eyes across the whiproom, trying to take stock of what was going on.

Everyone had stopped what they were doing. Every Gentleman was standing, leather whips in hand. The blue fluorescent lights flickered as they gleamed off skin and metal, everything sharpness and slickness and steel. She’d finally drawn their attention. She’d been too loud. She’d been too slow.

Everyone was looking at her.

And they were all smiling.

It was a risk to purchase a whole series based on a fb ad, but The Metal Wood is an epic creation with highly nuanced characters and world-building. Jeremy Thomas Fullers vision, care, attention and rewrites have resulted in an epic fantasy with unexpected twists. I think Ill reread this first book in the series before I continue with the rest, and this time Ill keep a notebook beside me to keep track of the main characters.

The Metal Wood is the kind of dystopian sci-fi that doesn’t just build a world, it drags you into it by tooth and nail and makes you feel every injustice, every spark of resistance, and every sacrifice etched into its story.

At the heart of all the chaos is Phoenix, our fierce and flawed FMC, who is at the helm of a collapsing New San Francisco, watching the world burn, not by her hand this time, but by a storm she might have helped start. With Dust at her side, holding a pirated radio like a lifeline, the two listen to a rebellion unravel in real time. Every update is a beat closer to an uprising no one can control.

The political tension is thick as hell above the Under. You’ve got illegal pirate broadcasts, secret coalitions handing out radios, and whispers of transmuters synthesizing more than just food. Phoenix suspects Queen, who controls the food supply, has a deeper hand in the pot, and her suspicions lead her straight into a complex web of rebellion, betrayal, and survival.

All of the characters have some moral ambiguity as none of them are not simply good or evil. Everyone has an angle, everyone has secrets. And the found family vibes, specifically between Phoenix and Dust, carry that raw protectiveness you can’t help but love.

There’s no romantic fluff here, unfortunately… but it fits as other emotional dynamics are heavily invested throughout the novel. It’s gritty and emotionally intense, but still laced with those glimmers of hope and connection you crave. The rebellion doesn’t just ask “Can we win?”, it asks what’s worth losing to fight back.

This book grabs you from the first paragraph and DOESN’T LET UP. You can tell this novel is fleshed out and well written, the character practically jump off the page. The world building was so visionary and descriptive- I felt like I was reading the beginning of something that was akin to Wheel of Time in its ability to capture so many people with it’s immersive worlds
With a unique magic system and a gritty landscape, Megan our FFM, is a standout. Her magic (which of course is uniquely built and flawlessly executed) shines like a beacon in the plot of every building tension.
I don't think it matters what genre you prefer- you will like this book. It blends so many styles and is so well crafted the story can stand on its own. Thank you to Inkspire for the gifted copy.

I am so glad I picked this book up, I had SUCH a fantastic time reading it. Right from the beginning I was completely intrigued by the plot and the characters. I enjoyed trying to piece things together, and watching it all unfold. At times I thought I had it figured out, but BOY WAS I WRONG. What a fun ride this book was. I cannot wait to pick up the next one!

Throughout this book, I found myself dying to know what was about to happen next. I kept screaming "WHAT?!" in my head, and then two minute later another "NO WAY!" came out. I have never quite read anything like it. It was unique, and bingeworthy!

At times things got super heated (pun intended), and things continued to happen, I just could not stop reading. If you love to have your mind running in circles to try to figure out the next move, to find out who you could trust... I HIGHLY recommend this book.

I cannot wait to dive into book 2 as soon as possible. I am so grateful the entire series dropped the same day, because there is no way I could wait a long time for the follow up! I am HOOKED and I need more people to read this so we can chat and digest it all together.. because honestly .. what.. the.. f.... in the best way.

Would be an awesome movie. I said what I said.

Seriously, we do not stop once we start on this one. Twists and turns for our FMC and so many characters are unique adding to the story. I even told my husband he'd like this one. Trust know one and buckle up.

If you're looking for a fantasy book with predominantly sci-fi elements, this is the book for you. The universe in which this story takes place is very well structured and the descriptions of the locations are excellent.
Our main character, Meghan, is an independent, strong girl, but at the same time she has many flaws and makes mistakes which lead her through certain hurtles she has to overcome. She has a tragic and mysterious past that captivates you from the very beginning.
This book was excellent, and I highly recommend it. It’s actioned packed from the very beginning so it will capture the reader from the get go.

I absolutely loved this book. The world building is outstanding. I really like the names for all of the powers they are so unique. The way you set this world up had me hooked. It was very detailed but in a perfect way. Phoenix is a survivor who wants to have a better life and she will do whatever it takes to get it. The undernames are also really cool! The plot twists are wild! This story line is so good! If you want an action packed magic filled world I highly recommend this book!! Can't wait to ready the next one! Thank you so much Jeremy Thomas Fuller and Inspire for the opportunity to be a part of the ARC Team!

This book was a lot and I am here for it!!! I love when a book pulls you in and you can't stop because you want to know what happens next. The plot was one thing after another, and with all the twists it was a fun ride. The world created here was interesting, and I loved the characters. If you love books set in dystopian worlds, then this book is for you!

A great book to start a sci-fi saga! For me, the book had both pros and cons, so here's a breakdown:⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
What I liked:⁣⁣⠀
- Fast-paced storytelling⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Dystopian sci-fi setting⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Tons of action: fights, chases, and more⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Car races!!!⠀⁣⁣⠀
- LGBTQ+ characters⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Interesting world-building, similar to Pierce Brown’s Red Rising⁣⁣⠀
- Unique and unusual magic (kinda reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson)⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Betrayals, secrets, and a plot that keeps you on edge!⠀⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
What I didn’t like as much: ⁣⁣⠀
- The beginning was rough because everyone kept trying to grope the MC or undress her⠀⁣⁣⠀
- I don’t like one trope (I won’t say it), and it suddenly popped up at the end 😭⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Due to the fast pacing, I didn’t fully connect with the characters and world, but I hope the next books will expand on it!⠀⁣⁣⠀
- Phoenix sometimes seemed foolish (but that’s just my perception)⠀⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣
All in all, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who loves dystopias!

Thanks a lot to the Inkspire and the author for providing the advanced readers copy!

THE WHOLE SAGA IS OUT NOW!!!!

If you enjoy the magic systems of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series, this might scratch an itch for you!! A wonderfully done blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and dystopian genres!

I had a FANTASTIC time reading this book. Action-packed from the beginning to the end, well-written characters, and wild plot twists that I did not see coming! The end was like WHIPLASH with the amount of times I went “whoa..WHAT?”

Nothing felt like filler, although certain moments at about the 50% mark felt a bit slow. However it was still very much enjoyable!! I also love the queer representation, and I’m so thrilled that it’s becoming more common to see in books.

As there are 9 more books (!!!) in the series, I’m so curious to see where it goes. The ending was very satisfying. The years Jeremy Thomas Fuller spent pouring his soul into this does not go unnoticed. Excited to read more!! Thank you so much Inkspire for the advanced copy!!

This was such a fast-paced and action-packed story that I just could not put down. I loved the idea of a dystopian city in the sky… meaning that everyone is trapped in the enclosed society.

I was obsessed with the details of the city. The wealthy live in beautiful, floating cities; yet, the poor and undesirables lived in the within the filthy and dark “Under” beneath the streets of city.

Want more?? There is a complex and unique magic system in the novel. Not everyone has magic, and Megan (also known as Phoenix), the FMC, is a rare forcefinder that must face betrayals, heartbreak, and brutality to survive in this world.

I am ready to dive into the rest of the series… and guess what?! The entire 10 book saga released today!

What a fast-paced, action-packed read! This book was excellent it was set in a dystopian society in the skies, with heart-pounding fight scenes and a fierce, unforgettable FMC. I was completely hooked. The world-building was phenomenal: visionary, immersive, and so vividly described that it jumped off the page. Floating cities for the elite, a gritty underworld for the poor with every detail brought this setting to life.

Megan was everything. I absolutely loved her and the journey she takes in this story. The magic system was unique and added so much depth. Full of betrayals and shocking twists, this book will be living rent-free in my head for a long time.

Thank you to the author and Inspire Services for sending me this eARC! I am leaving a review voluntarily and all opinions expressed are my own.

I’ll be honest—I was a little hesitant going into this book because it’s so different from the kinds of stories I usually read. I wasn’t sure it would click with me, and I even considered putting it down in the beginning. But somewhere around the halfway mark, everything shifted—I was totally hooked. The number of times I was left with my jaw on the floor - unlimited! The pacing really picked up, and it started to feel like I was watching a full-blown action movie play out in my head. There were nonstop twists and turns, and I found myself constantly needing to know what would happen next.

What really pulled me in, though, was the cast of characters. They were all so distinct and full of personality, and it made the story feel alive. I especially loved Megan. She stood out to me as someone who was both tough and vulnerable, which made her feel really human. Watching her grow and evolve through the story made me care about her even more.

By the time I turned the last page, I was already eager to see what happens in the next installment. I'm really glad I gave this book a chance—it pulled me out of my comfort zone in the best way.

There was a good chunk of things to love about this book! Action? Packed. Dystopian setting that’s in the sky? ok, sold. Characters that don’t make your head hurt? Check.
The very first pages have you hook, line and sinker as they say. There are twists and turns that you likely won’t be expecting.
The pace of this book is definitely fast, but in the best way. It’s smooth and enjoyable. Excited to read what’s next in the series!

This book was a gripping adrenaline rush from beginning to end. Set in a dystopian world high above the earth, it features a bold and unforgettable female lead who commands every scene. The action sequences were intense and pulse-pounding, keeping me on edge the whole way through.

Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the story would throw a curveball that completely blindsided me—especially in the final chapters.

What truly stood out, though, was the world-building—rich, imaginative, and so vividly rendered that the setting felt completely alive. Towering sky cities housed the wealthy elite, while a raw, dangerous underworld simmered below, brought to life with stunning detail.

This book, filled with shocking twists and betrayals, has firmly planted itself in my mind. Its one-of-a-kind magic system brought incredible depth to the story, making it truly unforgettable.

The Metal Wood is an action-packed dystopian fantasy sci-fi thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Quick synopsis: The floating city of Newfris is divided between topsiders who reside above ground, and the castaways who dwell under the city. We follow Megan “Phoenix”, our fierce FMC, as she navigates life in the Under. When we meet her, she has no recollection of her past and struggles to control her magic, which gets her kicked out of her crew and hunted by those she trusted most. Once she’s accepted into a new group of misfits, she quickly realizes that the life she thought she knew was built on lies and buried secrets.

This book is so different from what I usually read and I was nervous I wouldn’t like it. But, once I got halfway through, I couldn’t put it down. It felt like I was watching an action movie - it was fast-paced, there were so many twists and turns, and the cast of characters were so much fun. I really liked Megan, she was strong and vulnerable, and really grew throughout the book. I’m excited to see where her story goes in the next one.

What to expect:

💥 unique magic system
💥 buried secrets
💥 mental health rep

I am not normally any kind of a Fantasy reader (despite how badly I want to be a cool kid) and I instantly loved the way this book sucked me in with the world development. I was easily able to see everything happening with that amazing opening.
The dystopian vibe is usually lost on me, but this was so different and cool the way "Elite" and "Underbelly" of the flying world was broken down.
Our FFM is so amazing and I am excited to see what else happens in this story. Overcoming betrayal to survive amongst a world you cannot trust is always a Win in my book.

Best part, the entire series is being released together, so no waiting! See you in the Under.

This was an addicting story with a fast-paced, adrenaline-inducing plot. The gritty, ominous dystopian world had so many layers of secrets that keep you hooked.
I was absolutely captivated by the unique magic system! I also really enjoyed how the author included multiple POVs from characters on either side of the social divide. There were so many shocking twists and betrayals I was in utter disbelief!

Thanks so much to Inkspire Services and the author for the eARC!

There were so many things to love about this book. It was literally action packed throughout the book. In addition, who doesn't love a dystopian setting that also takes place in the sky?

This book definitely pulled me in from the very beginning. There were quite a few twists in this book that I absolutely loved. The world building was excellent. You had the under world and then the topside world.

Megan was an amazing FMC. She had to deal with being betrayed by her own crew. That was a powerful blow. Yet she found a way to keep going. It didn't hurt that she was feared because of the magic that she possessed.

The pace of this book was fast but smooth making it very enjoyable. I'm actually excited to continue this series.

Holy heck! This was a fast paced, action after action adventure of a story!

I was nervous at first when I picked this up but within the first few pages I was sucked in!

Phoenix is an amazing character, the plot is full and rich.

10/10 planning on reading the next book, The Stone Flame because I loved this one!

Thank you to Jeremy Thomas Fuller and Inkspire Services for the gifted arc!

Where to begin? I ate this book up! The magic system was unique and unlike any book I’ve read so far. I was kept guessing and on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book between the fast moving, action packed plot and the unique cast of characters. The whole series is releasing in 6 days and I might have to make space in my TBR to start the next book sooner than I expected to!

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A solid four stars for me! This was a fast paced book, full of action with a wild world and unique magic system. The dystopian vibes were absolutely on point, and I found myself fully able to picture everything that the author was describing. I haven’t read any really well written sci-fi in a while but I felt like this hit the mark. I felt that the ending was written in a way that it wasn’t a total cliffhanger, but you are well set up for the rest of the series to come. This was a fun read and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

5 ⭐

Main Characters:
Phoenix

Stand out lines/quotes:
“See, there’s one thing about underkids that you topsiders never understand. We don’t mind getting a little dirty.”

My Thoughts:
I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!!!
Ok so I am not normally a straight-up sci-fi kind of girlie, I normally like a little spice mixed in with my sci-fi…BUT, ,Jeremey did a fantastic job with the world building, and just the overall storyline that I was hooked from the beginning. This is such a great start to the saga that I am dying to read the next book.
