Water Nine

Water Nine is a temporary "Crew encampment" established by the survivors of the Under after the death of Queen and the Master Monitor. The location features a "metal platform" from which the leaders can survey the Crew, who are seen "bustling about, unloading crates of cans, pitching tents and placing tables and running hoses to form a crude system of showers". It is a functional, makeshift home where the remaining underkids manage their own resources and "survive as they wished".

As a post-conflict refuge, Water Nine represents the smaller, more independent nature of the Crew following the collapse of Queen’s rigid systems. It is here that Phoenix and Beam live while Phoenix is pregnant, receiving medical care through Orym's influence while the Crew remains "one step ahead" of the Planners' retaliatory strikes. The site emphasizes the resilience of the Under youth, noting that "underkids always survived" regardless of who was in charge.

I just finished this series. Overall it was a good read, an interesting twist on elves, humans,and other creatures.

I did find it hard to track just who was who and when things were happening with the myriad timelines.

The one thing that truly disappointed me was the introduction of JRR Tolkien into the storyline. It felt like a name drop for attention. I was in the last book, it wasn't needed and almost spoiled the entire read for me. Hence only four stars.

These are great stories and I can't wait to read the next one. I reallybdon't want them to end.

I really liked the plot development in this series of books. I would encourage anyone who enjoys this genre, to read this series. They are a little different to the run of the mill books .

This book just wasn't to my taste in fantasy. I don't read foul language and don't like such darkness. Sorry I ordered the whole series before I realized this.

Loved the 10 book series. Exciting how all the characters merged throughout the books. Had to keep reading no housework for 2 weeks.

The writing was great, but the story was uninspired. After finishing the first book, I did not have enough interest to continue.

Good fun reading. Your use of expletives on occasion was a bit of a shock as they came out of the blue compared to the rest of the narrative, doesn't bother me, just stood out some.
Good stuff

It's a very engrossing series. Definitely doesn't slow down.
