The Beyond

The Beyond (also referred to as the "great beyond") is the vast expanse of outer space into which the ancients scattered the planets that act as pieces of the Defense Mechanism. It represents the uncharted depths of the universe far from Valaralda. During a vision of his past life as Tarathiel, Trey recalls explaining the ancient creation of the machine: “I wasn’t here during the Great Awakening, but they built something way back then. A Defense Mechanism. Then they scattered it into the Beyond".

Later, when Lashel corrects Trey's flawed translation of Ancient Eglarian texts regarding Thangail Band (the shield prison), the true text reveals the fate of the planetary system: "The prison trees were made, a prison to shield them from us. Edrafen was made to open it. We moved the two planets far away from us, into the great beyond". This confirms that Earth (Mar) and Eryn were cast into the Beyond to hide them from the destructive entity known as Guruthos.

I just finished this series. Overall it was a good read, an interesting twist on elves, humans,and other creatures.

I did find it hard to track just who was who and when things were happening with the myriad timelines.

The one thing that truly disappointed me was the introduction of JRR Tolkien into the storyline. It felt like a name drop for attention. I was in the last book, it wasn't needed and almost spoiled the entire read for me. Hence only four stars.

These are great stories and I can't wait to read the next one. I reallybdon't want them to end.

I really liked the plot development in this series of books. I would encourage anyone who enjoys this genre, to read this series. They are a little different to the run of the mill books .

This book just wasn't to my taste in fantasy. I don't read foul language and don't like such darkness. Sorry I ordered the whole series before I realized this.

Loved the 10 book series. Exciting how all the characters merged throughout the books. Had to keep reading no housework for 2 weeks.

The writing was great, but the story was uninspired. After finishing the first book, I did not have enough interest to continue.

Good fun reading. Your use of expletives on occasion was a bit of a shock as they came out of the blue compared to the rest of the narrative, doesn't bother me, just stood out some.
Good stuff

It's a very engrossing series. Definitely doesn't slow down.
