The Primestore

The Primestore was a vital, highly guarded storage facility located in the Eldrim village of Sylrantheas. Originally built as a simple warehouse, it was repurposed to house the village's massive stockpiles of primewood, serving as the central reserve for the elves' magical power.

Geography and Environment

Located near the edge of Sylrantheas, the Primestore was a large, boxy building. Originally used to store agricultural equipment, seeds, and grain, it was emptied out and converted into a dedicated primewood vault.

The exterior of the building featured a wall facing the street lined with five paned glass windows. During the height of the village's crisis, the Council ordered lightning rods installed on the exterior and stationed armed Guardians outside its small entrance door to protect it.

Inside, the environment was dark and smelled of old, musty wood, mice, and bats. The interior space was vast, filled with shelves that reached up several stories to the ceiling. Upon these tall shelves sat neat rows of primewood. The wood had been harvested from the Prime Trees centuries prior and cut into thin wafers, measuring two feet on each side, which were perforated so mages could easily break off the tiny chips required for casting magic.

The Storage Initiative

Following the devastating Typhoon Velma and the terrifying realization that their magic might be in jeopardy, the Sylrantheas Council—led by Silanar and Daylor—ordered an aggressive stockpiling effort. They rapidly filled the Primestore and two other buildings to capacity to ensure the village would survive if their access to the Prime Trees was severed.

The Accidental Fire

During a sudden nighttime attack on Sylrantheas by the human Remnant, a group of attackers marched toward the Primestore carrying fiery torches. Realizing that the loss of the wood would mean the end of elven magic, the young mages Elanil and Rylan attempted to stop them from the roof of the building. Elanil used her leafrunning magic to levitate a bucket of water, intending to douse the torches. However, as she ran out of primewood and lost control, the bucket careened into the Remnant leader Jalnab's head. The impact knocked a lit torch through one of the Primestore's paned glass windows, instantly starting a fire in the dry, centuries-old wood inside.

The Cothellon Ambush

Amidst the chaos of the Remnant attack, Trey ducked into the burning Primestore to hide from an unstable, knife-wielding Allain. While they were inside, a Cothellon flying car descended on the building and opened fire. The heavy barrage of bullets tore into the massive stacks of primewood, causing the towering shelves to topple into one another like a line of massive wooden dominoes. The destruction accelerated the fire, which quickly raged out of control.

The Summoned Storm

With the roof collapsing and the fire spreading rapidly, Trey escaped the building. Knowing the village could not afford to lose its magic, Trey grasped pieces of prime ash and tapped into the amplified power of an elven soulcircle. Utilizing his abilities as a Prime Mage, he summoned a massive, unnatural rainstorm that completely doused the flames. Although a large portion of the roof caved in and more than half the building was destroyed, Trey's intervention successfully saved a portion of the village's precious primewood.
