New Union

New Union is a major transportation and staging hub that serves as the primary base for Her Majesty’s Navy (Queen's Crew). The base is positioned "beneath the parking garage at New Union" in a "huge cement cavern [that] had at one time been a Department of Public Utilities staging area, full of equipment and supplies". It is a bustling subterranean headquarters where "multicolored collection of canvas and vinyl" tents act as living quarters for the various Navy squads.

This location is central to the life of an underkid in the Navy, housing the food service program in "Generator Two" and the training grounds for killgirls and spysquad. It sits one block away from a critical maintenance exit at "Sutter and Mason," which Phoenix used to make her first attempt at entering the topside world. After Queen's death, the Under population eventually moved their operations away from this area to avoid easy detection by the Planners.

I just finished this series. Overall it was a good read, an interesting twist on elves, humans,and other creatures.

I did find it hard to track just who was who and when things were happening with the myriad timelines.

The one thing that truly disappointed me was the introduction of JRR Tolkien into the storyline. It felt like a name drop for attention. I was in the last book, it wasn't needed and almost spoiled the entire read for me. Hence only four stars.

These are great stories and I can't wait to read the next one. I reallybdon't want them to end.

I really liked the plot development in this series of books. I would encourage anyone who enjoys this genre, to read this series. They are a little different to the run of the mill books .

This book just wasn't to my taste in fantasy. I don't read foul language and don't like such darkness. Sorry I ordered the whole series before I realized this.

Loved the 10 book series. Exciting how all the characters merged throughout the books. Had to keep reading no housework for 2 weeks.

The writing was great, but the story was uninspired. After finishing the first book, I did not have enough interest to continue.

Good fun reading. Your use of expletives on occasion was a bit of a shock as they came out of the blue compared to the rest of the narrative, doesn't bother me, just stood out some.
Good stuff

It's a very engrossing series. Definitely doesn't slow down.
