Dela
The dela (frequently referred to as dela deer) are a species of large, herbivorous deer native to the jungle planet of Eryn.
Biology and Appearance
While the sources do not provide highly detailed descriptions of their physical coloring or antler structures, the dela are noted to be quite large animals. Their physical size and general shape are directly comparable to the vel (the mysterious, semi-transparent beings that inhabit the Dark Forest of Lagafel), who are described as looking just like "big dela deer, but made entirely of silver light".
Ecology and Behavior
As prey animals in the fierce and untamed ecosystem of Eryn's jungles, the dela are naturally skittish and highly attuned to danger. They typically roam the underbrush and will scurry away rapidly at the first sign of a major threat, such as a dragon landing nearby.
Because they provide a good source of meat, dela deer are actively hunted by the predators of the Wilds to shore up food supplies. During a journey south through the jungle, the demisoul Jascyn and his souljoined welak wolf hunted and killed a dela deer, working together to effortlessly bring the large animal down for their party.
