Originally a site for one of the city's shantytowns, Crissy Field is described as the last resort for vagrants before it was repurposed. When Megan arrived, she found that "the shantytown was gone. In its place were bulldozers, the beginnings of a wall. A construction crew was there, and she could see several vehicles of a kind she didn’t recognize—black things, sleek and glossy, with steeply-angled windshields and no wheels at all". These vehicles were later identified by a DCS agent as "fallcars... for government use only".
The location is significant because Lorelei ordered its clearance before the Clean Up the Streets Act (Measure K) had even officially passed, claiming she "needed the space" for the expanding fleet of flying vehicles. Quynn carried out the eviction using dark poplar magic to ensure the inhabitants "had gone quietly, without a fight".
